0 Chris Johnson: Fantasy dream to horrible nightmare

By Justin Koehn

Back in 2009 when we were all screaming CJ2K, you would have called me crazy if I told you Chris Johnson would begin a solid nosedive down to painfully embarrasing numbers by the 2012 season. Is it the coaching staff? Is it the offensive line? Is it CJ himself? Is it crazy I am still asking questions?

Chris Johnson was just a short time ago the guy you wanted on your Fantasy Football lineup, knowing he would help you push above your opponent. Sure he has a "breakout" run of 10 yards here and there, but now that the stats are showing that this isn't just a fluke, does he deserve a spot on your fantasy roster? A few weeks ago, our quarterback had more rushing yards than Chris Johnson, you know the guy who's job is to throw the ball? Yeah he can run too.

I never thought I would say this, but if I had Chris Johnson on my fantasy roster I would be thinking long and hard about giving him the boot to make room for someone that can produce. His best game this year was against a strong Houston defense, where he put up 141 rushing yards and 16 receiving yards. The Titans also happened to lose this game 38-14. All other games previous to week 6 this season have been 24 yards receiving or less, with what I believe is the most intriguing stat of 47 yards receiving in week 1 against New England. He had 4 rushing yards in that game. That's right: 4

Last night against the Steelers he seemed to be able to break a little more ground and look somewhat reminiscent of the good old days, but he is still far from a week to week constancy and sure-fire bet on your fantasy lineup. Johnson had 91 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards for a total of 114. My favorite play last night was the shovel pass from Hasselbeck, as he seemed to be in the right place at the right time and made the play happen beautifully. I just hope your fantasy league gives major bonuses for yardage, as he did not record a touchdown. In fact, he hasn't scored a touchdown all year and the Titans hadn't scored a rushing touchdown this entire season until last night.

The choice is yours, so choose wisely. You never know when things could turn around. Surely they will at some point… Please turn around at some point…
