0 James Harrison is crying again

By Kenny Howell

Why won't the NFL leave James Harrison alone?

All he wants to do is destroy everyone with his helmet, get some horrible brain disease and retire.

But the dictatorship NFL doesn't want him to do that.

This past week, Harrison had a pretty good opportunity to sack Michael Vick, but hesitated, then hit him right after the ball was let go with a perfectly legal hit. He said that he hesitated because he was afraid of another fine. Harrison said that he was waiting to see what Vick might do, because if he ducked his head then it would be helmet to helmet, and he would get fined.

Harrison still doesn't grasp what he does wrong. Helmets hit all the time, and the majority of the time it is not called. There is the occasional ref that gets it wrong, but for the most part they realize that heads are going to run into each other. It's the fact that Harrison lowers his head and spears people. Or that he targets people's heads while tackling. He leads with his helmet. It's almost as if he has taken too many head shots and doesn't understand that when people tell him. It's not surprising since he had trouble understanding why the Steelers were invited to the White House after winning the Super Bowl. He said he wouldn't go because if they hadn't won, they wouldn't be invited. That's just solid logic, you can't argue with that.

He has said in the past that he was going to retire because he can't play like he was taught in little league to play. What little league coach is teaching their kids to spear people or attack people's heads? I am sure there is some jerk out there that is reliving past glory through a bunch of 8-year olds, but most I have seen teach them to wrap up with their head up.

Harrison is going to continue to play the "poor me" card, but the more he does it, the more ridiculous he seems. Most other NFL players have learned to adapt to the new rules, as there is still a bad personal foul call occasionally, but it doesn't seem to happen as often. If Harrison ever learns this, he will go back to being a dominant defensive player. But, if I was a Steelers' fan, I wouldn't count on it.
