0 Kenny's College Football picks

By Kenny Howell

I am returning to the college games picking this week after a week off. Two weeks ago, I went 13-3, so we can only assume that if I did it last week, I would have gotten them all right. Just the natural science of improving from week to week. Here are this week's.

No. 1 Alabama 31 Missouri 10

Missouri continues to get its rude awakening to the SEC from the top dog.

No. 9 LSU 20 No. 3 South Carolina 16

Probably the marquee game of the week, I think LSU gets back on track. South Carolina has a habit of a letdown game, and LSU is hungry for a win. Plus, it's at night in Baton Rouge. Hard to win there.

No. 4 Florida 31 Vanderbilt 14

Florida should keep chugging along against Vandy, who recorded their first SEC win last week.

No. 5 West Virginia 45 Texas Tech 38

The Mountaineers should keep scoring a lot of points and giving up a lot as well.

No. 6 Kansas State 35 Iowa St. 21

This isn't a pushover Iowa St. team, but K-State should be able to control the game.

No. 7 Notre Dame 27 No. 17 Stanford 17

The Fighting Irish have played a decently tough schedule, but keep finding ways to win. Should be able to be as physical as they need to be to beat Stanford.

No. 8 Ohio State 30 Indiana 21

Indiana is also not as much of a pushover as they have been in the past either, but the Buckeyes are still better.

BYU 20 No. 10 Oregon St. 10

This is my upset special of the week. I am still doubting this Beavers team, and a trip to Provo might finally break their streak.

Washington 20 No. 11 USC 13

Another upset pick for me. I am going with the thought process that Stanford beat USC and Washington beat Stanford. Plus, it is in Pullman.

No. 12 Florida St. 48 Boston College 27

Florida St. had their typical headscratcher last week in a loss to N.C. State, so they should be hungry to bounce back.

No. 13 Oklahoma 34 No. 15 Texas 31

The Red River Shootout is not going to be the same as previous years, as neither is at the top of the conference. However, whoever loses this one is probably out of the conference championship race. I think the Sooners get it done.

No. 18 Louisville 31 Pittsburgh 23

The Cardinals are one of those undefeated teams that is flying under the radar because of a weak schedule. This game won't help much except it will keep them undefeated.

No. 19 Mississippi St. 34 Tennessee 24

I don't know if this pick is me just setting low expectations for my Volunteers so I won't be upset when they lose. But, the Bulldogs are second in the nation in turnover margin, and are pretty sound all around. I would be happy to get this one wrong.

No. 20 Rutgers 27 Syracuse 14

Who needs Greg Schiano? The Scarlet Knights are undefeated and should stay that way against Syracuse.

No. 21 Cincinnati 45 Fordham 7

Another one of those undefeated Big East teams, the Bearcats should have no trouble with Fordham.

No. 22 Texas A&M 38 No. 23 La. Tech 35

Did you know that Derek Dooley's former team is ranked higher than his current one? Me neither, but they score a ton of points, and should do so at home against the Aggies. Texas A&M is just better.

No. 24 Boise St. 27 Fresno St. 24

The Broncos keep staying around at the bottom of the Top 25, and should hold off Fresno St. this weekend.

No. 25 Michigan 31 Illinois 21

Apparently people are still taking Michigan seriously as a Top 25 team. They should get the win against the Illini, who are not very good.
