If you just started watching hockey, this was a good game to kick things off. It was fully action packed from start to finish. Pucks and fists were flying in all directions the entire game. Nashville was just coming off a two game slide in which they got shutout by Vancouver and Detroit, so this one was important to get the momentum back after going without a goal against those two.

Craig Smith started the scoring for Nashville as he snapped one in at 13:43 of the first period, assisted by Clune and Kostitsyn. It wasn't until the second period that Dallas would get themselves noticed with two quick succession goals at 1:20 and 1:45 from Matt Frazier and Reilly Smith, respectively. Shortly after, Roman Josi would bury one at 3:05 to get Nashville within one goal.

It was during the second when penalties were getting handed out like candy and Dallas took the power play opportunity to get a couple in pushing a 2 goal lead to make it 4-2. In total, 26 penalty minutes were assessed by both sides, including 5 minute fighting majors for Yip and Nystrom.

From hockeyfightsdotcom YouTube After Dallas gained a nice lead back, Patric Hornqvist backhanded one in at 13:43 to bring it within one goal. The lone scorer in the third period was Mike Fisher, assisted by Colin Wilson and Roman Josi at 8:22 to tie it up 4-4. This one was going to overtime, which is not unfamiliar territory for the Predators. Only 28 seconds into the overtime period, Roman Josi netted a beautiful snapshot assisted by Kostitsyn and Weber to end this one and snag two very well earned points.

With this win, Nashville goes back to second in the Central, fourth in the Western, and 10th overall in the league. Their next game is against Anaheim at The Honda Center on Wednesday night. The Ducks currently sit first in the Pacific, second in the Western, and second in the league. This one promises to be a great game that you will not want to miss.
