0 Preds Win Last 3 On Road, Own The Blues

By Justin Koehn

The Predators capped off a 7 game road trip with a 4-2-1 record, winning the last three in a row. The latest win came last night against the St. Louis Blues, with the Preds taking it 6-1 in regulation time. Thats right, no overtime or shootout in this one! The Predators last played them on January 24th getting shutout 3-0.

The first goal came on a power play by Ryan Ellis, a great player who I decided to sit on my fantasy bench for some reason. His goal was assisted by Erat and Wilson. The second goal was buried by Clune, which was his first NHL goal and ended up being the game winner. Wilson and Gaustad assisted on this one, and you could hear the crowd Scottrade Center quickly get quiet.

The first period was closed out with a goal by Nick Spaling. This put the Predators up 3-0 early in the game, a score by which the Blues beat them just a few games earlier. As the second period started, St. Louis came out in full force but still let Nashville score two more unanswered goals by Klein and Bourque before Blues defenseman Pietrangelo slid one through Pekka Rinne on the power play.  The final goal of the game was scored by Martin Erat.

Pekka Rinne had an outstanding night with 31 saves and only allowing the Pietrangelo goal through on the power play. Colin Wilson also had a stellar game with three assists finishing +3 for the night.

The Nashville Predators are starting to look like the team we all watched last year. They are better in the neutral zone, they are maintaining puck control, and they are playing the boards a lot better than the first few games this season. With this win they sit at 11 points on the season, only one behind St. Louis and seven behind a Chicago team that just can't lose. They are currently 6th in the Western Conference.

The Predators bring it back to Bridgestone on Thursday night to again take on the L.A. Kings which they were able to beat in a shootout on January 31st.
